August 19, 2010 - August 22, 2010 28th Annual Portola Railroad Days Celebration Picnic starts at 6 P.M.; Sat. 10 A.M. to 10 P.M.Come and enjoy the Annual Portola Railroad Days Celebration in Portola, CA. This year's theme: "Tracking Across the Sierras" celebrating 100 yrs. of the first WP passenger train over Western Pacific tracks. Thursday night the Community Kick-Off Picnic will be held at the Portola City Park at 6 P.M. Friday, Aug. 20th arrival of the Feather River Express will arrive at the Portola Railroad Museum bringing a special train tour from Emeryville to Portola up the Feather River Canyon to help celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the first passenger train over the Western Pacific Railway. A spectacular Fresian Horse Show and Event has been planned in the Graeagle area at the Corner Barn on the right on highways 89 & 70. A variety of activities are being planned for the enjoyment of the community and visitors. Enjoy the Annual Golden Spike Parade on Saturday at 11 A.M. arrive early before streets are closed off to traffic. Run in the Annual Willie Tate Memorial Scholarship Run on Sunday at 8 A.M.
